Equifest Competitions

Equifest competitions are fast-paced and provide a great spectacle for visitors.  

For competitors competing is also a great way to put your skills to the test in a fun and supportive environment. With great prize money up for grabs and an exciting schedule of ESNZ series and support classes - there are plenty of reasons to enter and be part of the Equifest action.

Other competition highlights include the Beyond the Barriers, Kaimanawa Heritage Stallion Challenge, Showhunter, Mounted Games and Working Equitation.

Show Jumping
Show Jumping

Jumping is a true test of speed and accuracy as horse and rider navigate the course under conditions and obstacles, involving many turns and changes of direction. Equifest features ESNZ series classes and support classes.

Eventing Challenge
Eventing Challenge

Taking place on Sunday the Equifest Event Challenge will shocase the three disciplines: Dressage, Cross Country and Show Jumping. The competitor with least penalties at the end is the winner.

Barrel Racing
Barrel Racing

Barrel racing is just as much a test of skill as speed. Horse and rider attempt to run a cloverleaf pattern around preset barrels in the fastest time.

Working Equitation
Working Equitation

Working Equitation promotes competition between classical training principles and traditional horsemanship. A Working Equitation competition comprises three phases.

Beyond the Barriers

Beyond the Barriers NZ is a non-profit organisation whose purpose is to promote the versatility and suitability of retired racehorses as pleasure and sporthorses within New Zealand. 

KHH Stallion Challenge
KHH Stallion Challenge

Kaimanawa Heritage Horses have created the Freedom to Friendship competition in order to recognize and highlight the value of Kaimanawas through a national training competition.

Mounted Games
Mounted Games

Two Mounted Games Competitions will be held at Equifest. Friday is North Island Secondary School Championships 2021 and the Saturday and Sunday competition is NZMGA Regional Team Championships Round 1.

Cowboy Challenge
Cowboy Challenge

Cowboy Challenge is a test of partnership between horse and rider. The competition is designed to test horsemanship and communication through negotiating a series of obstacles on horseback.
